Introduction
The Samkshipta-Ramayanam is the first chapter of Bala Kanda in Valmiki’s Ramayana, often considered as significant as the Adi-Kavya (the original epic itself). This abridged version of the Ramayana consists of 100 shlokas, elegantly narrating the entire story of the epic in a concise yet profound manner. It serves as an ideal starting point for Sanskrit learners, offering both linguistic and literary insights into the first classical Sanskrit text.
Course Objectives
This course is designed to help learners:
- Understand the basic meaning (भावार्थ) verse by verse over 15 interactive sessions.
Gain familiarity with the summary of the Ramayana as narrated by Valmiki, the Adi-Kavi.
Learn Sanskrit through its first classical text, focusing on the first chapter of the Ramayana.
Build confidence in Sanskrit comprehension by relating words to their meanings.
Develop a critical appreciation of poetry and its literary significance.
Master the chanting of shlokas with correct pronunciation—an essential part of Sanskrit studies.
