Revive the Roots: Learn the Ayurveda of Plants Through Practice

This intensive, practice-oriented course introduces learners to Vrikshayurveda, the Ayurveda of plants. It draws from India’s classical science of plant life to meet the challenges of ecological farming today. Through traditional diagnostics, bio-formulations, and cosmological principles, the course offers a complete system for chemical-free cultivation. Learners gain practical tools to restore soil vitality, boost yields, and regenerate local ecosystems.

Introduction

Vrikshayurveda treats agriculture as a living science in which soil, water, climate, microbes, animals, and humans form a single conscious web. Classical Indian texts describe agricultural marvels such as off-season fruiting, dwarfing of trees, and inducing seedless varieties. All of this was achieved through natural methods, centuries before modern horticulture imagined them.

Reintegrating these practices addresses two urgent challenges of our time: reversing chemical degradation of land and producing nutrient-rich food without fossil-fuel inputs. Through foundational scriptures such as Surapala’s Vrikshayurveda and the Mahābhārata dialogues, participants will explore how Tridoṣa theory, Vaiseṣika elemental concepts, and cow-based bio-stimulants offer a holistic framework for sustainable farming.

Course Objectives.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain core concepts including the definition of Vrikshayurveda, Vaiseṣika ontology, and the Bhṛgu–Bharadvāja dialogue on plant sentience

  • Prepare and apply classical inputs such as Kunapajala, Pañcagavya, and Agnihotra ash for soil health, nutrition, and pest control

  • Diagnose soil and crop disorders using Tridoṣa-based indicators and design appropriate natural remedies

  • Design a natural farm centered on indigenous cows, with live mulches, green manures, and biodiversity planting

  • Promote conservation ethics and show how chemical-free farming supports climate stability, water security, and public health

Course Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Apply Ayurvedic principles to everyday agricultural practice

  • Create and use natural fertilisers and soil conditioners

  • Identify and manage pests using traditional, non-chemical approaches

  • Enhance farm productivity and ecological resilience

  • Lead by example in promoting eco-conscious farming
